Share More Canada

For Canada’s 150th birthday, Panago Pizza urged Canadians to Share More Canada. Because Canada is awesome. Obviously. And they had some Canadian pizzas to sell. To kick things off, Panago shared new packaging that celebrated the country in all its varied regionality and storied history. There was Louis Riel with “Party like it’s 2017” glasses in the prairies. A lobster munching on a slice near Peggy’s Cove. Dudes dunking by the CN tower in the 6ix. A racoon and a skateboarder happily coexisting on the west coast. And Voyageurs paddling on Parliament Hill.

We worked on these limited-edition pizza boxes with super-talented art director, artist-illustrator Carson Ting, whose illustrations have lended an urban vibe to many brands including, Mercedes Benz and Sport Chek. This was one of my favourite collaborations. Carson and I worked in a lot of easter eggs details drawn from my time spent in Toronto and growing up in Winnipeg. There was even a nod to Drake’s Views, but the client got cold feet and it was removed in the end. See if you can find him hanging out on the CN Tower in the sketch above.

Some radio. The integrated campaign continued that summer with a couple spots commemorating great moments in sharing history.

We created a special Canada 150th spot out of some existing pizza footage with a very Canadian colour commentary from Blake Price and Al Murdoch. Holy Mackinaw!
